RIP Lynn Redgrave 1943-2010

Two time Oscar nominee, Lynn Redgrave passed away after a seven year battle with breast cancer on Sunday, May 2, 2010. Her family released a statement to the media via Redgraves official website, in which they said
"Our beloved mother Lynn Rachel passed away peacefully after a seven-year journey with breast cancer,"
"She lived, loved and worked harder than ever before. The endless memories she created as a mother, grandmother, writer, actor and friend will sustain us for the rest of our lives."
Redgrave received her first Academy Award nomination for her star making turn in Georgy Girl, and found herself pitted against sister, Vanessa Redgrave who was nominated in the same category for Morgan: A Suitable Case For Treatment. Both sisters missed out on taking the Oscar home - it went to Elizabeth Taylor for Whose Afraid of Virginia Wolf.
Her Second nomination was as the housekeeper to Sir Ian McKellan in Gods and Monsters in 1998. Over her career Redgrave starred in over 90 television and movie roles.
The youngest child of the British acting family, Lynn died only a month after her elder brother Corin, and a year after the tragic death of neice Natasha Richardson.
As a founding member of the Royal National Theatre, Redgrave was also an accomplised playwrite and had been nominated for several Tony Awards during her Broadway career.
Most recently, Redgrave had guest starred in both House and Desperate Housewives.
Redgrave is survived by three children, and her sister Vanessa Redgrave.
