Charlie Kaufman

Continuing my great filmakers thread I've got going here I have to make special mention of Charlie Kaufman. Although he is not a filmmaker per se he deserves notice based on the strength of his scripts alone. As an aspiring screen writer myself I really have to say I respect his work a lot. The three movies he has done are all fantastic and innovative which is rare in the modern days.
Being John Malkovich is a great movie, although arguably less refined than his two successive efforts. The whole concept is wonderful in its originality and ingenuity. Who would've thought of an actually good movie involving puppeteers bu8t there you have it.
Adaptation is another great film though it's likability is in how you interpret it. From my own point of view I thought it was genius, the whole intentionally cliched ending and the co-writing. Mwah! Bellisimo. If anyone out there knows if Donald Kaufman actually exists I would very much like to know (I have a feeling he doesn't).
And so, Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind, what an incredible love story movie. If you're reading this and haven't seen it, I don't want to spoil it. Go and watch it and then come back and let me know what you think. It's surely one of the best movies since 2000 and one of the most interesting screenplays I can remember.

I've really enjoyed Charlie's work... Adaptation is a fine, fine movie with an excellent script. I also enjoyed Human Nature, but everyone else I talk to seems to dislike it intensely.
Kaufman directed a film and it'll be appearing at Cannes this year...
